Recovery
The next day was day one of the Lightning Process. As I was unable to go to where Amir was, he came to me. Mum stayed with me for support and I lay in bed, slightly propped up with pillows. I managed to concentrate for longer than usual as Amir explained the process but still needed breaks. It was an amazing day.
After Amir left in the evening I got out of bed, collected my toothbrush and walked to the bathroom, giggling at my Mum's face as she watched me walk for the first time in about six months! I was rather wobbly as my muscles hadn't been used for so long, but my M.E. was already leaving and I felt amazing compared to just a few hours before.
Although I didn't go to Amir's house for day two, I sat up in a chair and talked a lot more than I did on day one. I ate meals at the table, and generally was up and walking about.
I had a break between days two and three, which I used to experience my new found energy! Other than doing the 'normal' things like walking to the bathroom all by myself and eating at the table, I went with Mum to the local shop where I walked around, grinning like a madwoman. I couldn't remember the last time I was in a shop, let alone actually walking around in one! We then drove to the beach. I got out and walked around. It was freezing cold but I really didn't care because I was walking around outside! It could have been a heavy storm and I would have been happy, because I felt so alive and you don't get weather inside (if do have weather inside, you should really get your roof checked)!
As if all this wasn't enough, we went back to the guest house and went straight out into the garden. This wasn't just any garden, there was a steep hill up to the end where there was a huge swing hanging from a tree. I climbed the hill and spent ages on the swing. We had to go back after a while for dinner which I ate sitting at the table. My legs and feet were really aching but in a good way because they had actually been used! Very different to the M.E. ache.
After dinner I went back to our room. I sat on the bed making jewellery, which was just really nice and relaxing after the big day I'd just had (jewellery making used to be one of the most active and productive things I could do!).
On the Friday my legs felt like they'd really been used but didn't ache as much as the day before. It was the day to leave, so I packed up my stuff and we went to Amir's house for day three. I'll always remember Mum's and Amir's faces as I quite happily walked off to the toilet. It was almost feeling normal in an amazing sort of way to me now but they had to take some time to get used to seeing me walk around like that!
And so the week was over, and we set off back home.
